How to Install and Adopt Your UniFi WiFi 7 AP U7-Pro
The U7-Pro is designed for ceiling mounting, powered over Ethernet. Here's how to get it physically installed and connected to your network.
Applies to: Ubiquiti UniFi WiFi 7 AP U7-Pro
6 steps to get it done
Plan the mounting location
Choose a central ceiling location for even coverage. The included mounting plate supports both ceiling and wall mounting.
Mark and drill
Place the mounting template at your chosen spot and mark the drilling points — small holes for the mounting screws, plus a larger hole for the Ethernet cable to pass through.
Secure the mounting plate
Fix the universal mounting plate in place using the supplied screws (and wall anchors, if wall-mounting).
Connect and attach the AP
Run a PoE (802.3af/at) Ethernet cable to the location, connect it to the AP, then align the AP with the mounting plate and twist to lock it in place.
Adopt the device
Once powered, wait for the LED to turn solid white — this means it's ready to adopt. Open the UniFi Network app or unifi.ui.com, go to Devices, find the U7-Pro showing "Pending Adoption", and click Adopt.
Confirm it's live
After a few minutes of provisioning, the LED will turn blue, confirming the access point is live on your network.
Tips:
- The U7-Pro needs standard 802.3af/at PoE — check your switch or injector supports it before installing.
- WiseCloud can handle placement planning and adoption as part of installation, so you get even coverage rather than guesswork.
Quick answers
Does the U7-Pro need a separate power supply?
No — it's powered over Ethernet (PoE), so a single cable handles both data and power.
How do I know when the access point is ready to use?
The LED turns solid white when it's ready to adopt, then blue once adoption is complete and it's live on the network.
Need a hand with setup?
WiseCloud can configure your handsets, headsets and network gear for you as part of installation — no troubleshooting required.
