How to Set Your Availability Status
Your status controls how incoming calls are handled — from ringing normally, to going straight to voicemail. Here's how the different statuses work.
4 steps to get it done
Find the status selector
In the 3CX app or web client, click your current status (shown near your profile/avatar) to see the available options.
Choose a status
Options include Available, Away, Out of Office, and two configurable Custom statuses, alongside Do Not Disturb.
Understand what each status does
Available rings as normal. Away and Do Not Disturb both stop your phone ringing, but follow whatever forwarding rule you've set for that status — DND is meant for when you don't want to be disturbed at all, even by chat notifications.
Queue members: know the side effect
If you're part of a call queue, switching to Away or Do Not Disturb automatically logs you out of the queue, so queued calls won't ring to you until you switch back.
Tips:
- An administrator can schedule status changes automatically by time of day, useful for after-hours handling without anyone needing to remember to switch.
- If your status seems stuck, WiseCloud can check your extension's forwarding rules and reset it remotely.
Quick answers
What's the difference between Away and Do Not Disturb?
Both stop calls ringing through as normal and follow your forwarding rule for that status, but Do Not Disturb is intended for when you want complete quiet — no calls or notifications at all.
Does changing my status affect call queues?
Yes — switching to Away or Do Not Disturb automatically logs you out of any call queues you're a member of.
Can our status change automatically after hours?
Yes — an administrator can configure scheduled status changes so this happens without anyone needing to do it manually.
Need a hand with setup?
WiseCloud can configure your handsets, headsets and network gear for you as part of installation — no troubleshooting required.
