How to Change Your Voicemail Greeting

You can record a custom voicemail greeting for your extension — and even set a different greeting depending on whether you're available, away, or in a meeting.

Steps

4 steps to get it done

1

Open greeting settings in the web client

Log into the 3CX web client, click your avatar in the top right corner, then go to Settings > Greetings.

2

Choose how to record it

Upload an audio file for your greeting, or record one directly from your IP phone by clicking the deskphone icon.

3

Set a greeting per status (optional)

In your extension's Forwarding Rules, you can set a different greeting for each status — Available, Away, Do Not Disturb and so on — so callers hear the right message depending on your availability.

4

Change your greeting from a desk phone

Alternatively, dial 999, enter your PIN and #, then dial 8 to record a new greeting message directly from the handset.

Tips:

  • A status-specific greeting is a nice touch — e.g. a different message when you're on leave versus just away from your desk.
  • Keep it short — callers who reach voicemail generally want a fast way to leave their message.
